Study Says U.S. LAST In “Rich” Country Healthcare

Here are some interesting comparisons between the U.S. health care system and that of nations such as Australia, Britain, Canada, Germany, New Zealand, Japan, and the Netherlands.  These were taken from two studies just released by the Commonwealth Fund:

-The United States is alone in not offering universal health care.

-45 million Americans have no health insurance coverage.

-The United States lags far behind in adopting modern health information technology.

-The cost for a one day stay in a U.S. hospital is three times the average of the other nations involved in the study.  Prescription costs in the U.S. are double those of the other countries.

-The U.S. is last in access to health care; last in patient safety; last in timeliness of care; and, last in those with a regular physician.

These are hardly conditions that the greatest country in the world can be proud of.  They are conditions we should not even tolerate.  But the moron network prefers this system to change.  Members of the moron network would rather shout down our representatives than to have a rational discussion on changes that are desperately needed.  Members of the moron network would rather listen to falsehoods from their pin-up girl Sarah Palin than study proposals being made, i.e. there is no “death panel” in any health care bill.  And, members of the moron network would rather deface images of President Obama than suggesting constructive alternatives to changes he seeks. Truly amazing.

The Nazi graffiti that has cropped up at various town meetings would be hilarious, if not so ridiculously sad.  Apparently these sign wavers have not studied history closely.  During the Nazi regime, someone defacing a photo of Hitler would likely be arrested, tortured or shot. Or be arrested, tortured, then shot.  There was no free speech like we enjoy in America.

For shame to those carrying guns to town hall meetings on health care.  Yes, the Second Amendment guarantees your right to bear arms, though I am pretty sure our Founding Fathers didn’t know much about assault weapons that somehow are allowed because of this amendment.  To bring these weapons to a health care meeting is overbearing, tacky, indecent, and intimidating.  If members of the moron network want to make Nazi comparisons, go back to the late 20’s and early 30’s to see what party in Germany was carrying weapons to political meetings.

I don’t happen to be a nut who wants all guns banned either.  I have no problems with people having guns used for hunting, and I believe that every police force should have whatever weapons it needs to outgun the gangs and drug dealers in their city.  I have many, many misgivings about pistols and assault weapons.

A statement I have a real problem with is “those without health insurance in the U.S. are lazy bums.”  What a total crock.  I need to look no further than my own family for a perfect example of how wrong that statement is.  My 28 year old daughter works full-time and is a hard worker and a good employee that can be counted on.  Her employer does NOT offer her insurance, and she cannot afford private insurance.  She is hardly a bum.  And yes, she needs AND deserves health care reform that will provide her with some type of coverage.

Throw my hands up and (SHOUT)
Throw my head back and (SHOUT)
Come on now (SHOUT)
Don’t forget to say you will(SHOUT)

Don’t forget to think before you open your pie hole(SHOUT).

I am more than a little ashamed at the outrageous behavior displayed at so many town hall meetings. Our politicians are far from perfect but if not the individual, than the office deserves respect not shown at so many of the shouting match meetings shown on TV the past few weeks.  What I find almost impossible to believe is that in dissing our politicians, the moron network becomes pawns of the big pharmaceutical companies.  That is the equivalent of Texas football fans cheering for the Oklahoma Sooners in the fall.  Memo to moron network, please note above, our prescriptions cost double the prescriptions in other developed countries.  Do you really think the drug companies are so noble they want that to change?

Finally, congratulations to Congressman Barney Frank for lashing back at some of the sign wavers and shouters at a town hall meeting he conducted.  I don’t always agree with the Massachusetts representative, but this is something I wish more Congressmen and Senators would have the courage to do.

Thanks for stopping by.
